A full house of seventeen people came to the Berks LaunchBox at the Goggleworks for their first of a four-night, free class: Introduction to 3D Printing. This class teaches basic CAD design with TinkerCad and how to do 3D printing, a type of additive manufacturing.

The community members learned about additive manufacturing and all types of 3D printers from Joe Sinclair of Verde Mantis, LP, and even had a demo of his latest invention – The Mantis! The class then enjoyed building and combining different shapes and text as they learned the fundamentals of TinkerCAD from Penn State Engineering Professor, Ed Sauer on their first night.

TinkerCAD and 3D printing can be used to prototype product designs for a new startup, or add a new product to a current business. Tinkerers and hobbyists can also make great use of TinkerCAD and 3D Printing while working on a variety of fun and interesting projects. Class members will have continued access to the Makerspace with computers, 3D printers and help into the future for a low membership rate of $40 per semester or $99 per year.
